Helping the environment

At The Grove Daycare Nursery, we are very passionate about helping preserve and protect the planet we inhabit. Therefore, we continuously work towards implementing as many relevant Global Goals as possible to help create positive actions that will make a difference.

We also strive to implement these ideologies within our inclusive curriculum, offering children the opportunity to learn about these topics through play and exploration as well as linking to our wide range of high-quality texts that cover these topics.

What have we implemented so far?

Using biodegradable nappies, wipes & cruelty free nappy cream and sun cream

Locally sourcing fruit, vegetables, and grains for our meals

We also strive to use less meat in our menus

Recycling systems in place throughout the nursery

Turning off all unused electrical sources

Eco-friendly cleaning, washing and laundry products

Encouraging staff and parents to walk, cycle and use public transport to travel to the nursery

Majority of our toys and resources are made using wood, bamboo and metal materials

Using less paper where possible with children, parents and staff

Encouraging wise usage or water throughout the nursery

Global Goals –

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

We at The Grove Daycare Nursery will do our utmost to incorporate aspects of these global goals in our nursery curriculum and daily nursery life.
